Reflection

Overall, this was a very enjoyable assignment to do throughout class. I learned a lot about myself as a writer. I think it really is important to have shitty first drafts and just write out everything I’m thinking. There are so many thoughts we have that are dismissed because we aren’t giving ourselves the time to express the creativity and individuality of them. I think my favorite assignment writing was the digital essay because it was fun, came easy to me, and interesting to analyze. My favorite assignment designing on the webpage was my inquiry. I think since I started lacking interest in the topic, I decided to entertain myself with the layout. Except on the digital essay my favorite part is the oxymoron collage. ALTHOUGH IT TOOK FOREVER…I think it looks pretty awesome. It also gets my point across of how Kid President is such an intriguing title being that it is an oxymoron.

Overall this portfolio was enjoyable because we kept up with it throughout class. If I had to put it all together at once like I did in 1101 it never would have looked like this. I think the blog posts were an awesome way to keep us focused on the portfolio because those were consistently uploaded onto it which helped me maintain the look of the website. Also, the blog posts were a fun and carefree way to exercise my writing and thoughts about topics I hadn’t written about before. The wild card posts were a little tricky to come up with because I almost felt like each blog was a wild card. There was such an open ended expectation of them that although the topic was narrowed down, I still felt like I could talk about anything.

I think this was an awesome, modern way to exercise our writing abilities and think it was useful to get familiar with creating digital essays. Even if this class wasn’t mandatory I would still love to take it! Thanks for everything Ms. Andrews!
